Philadelphia takes its 2-0 record to Soldier Field on Monday, September 28, 2026, for an 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff on ESPN and ABC. Chicago enters 1-1, facing its first game without injured quarterback Caleb Williams.
My Eagles vs. Bears prediction favors Chicago against the spread. The quarterback downgrade is real, but Philadelphia’s offensive injuries make winning by more than a field goal less straightforward than the unbeaten record suggests.
Eagles vs. Bears Odds
| Market | Philadelphia Eagles | Chicago Bears |
|---|---|---|
| Spread | -3.5 (-115) | +3.5 (-105) |
| Moneyline | -205 | +177 |
| Total | Over 41.5 (-105) | Under 41.5 (-115) |
These pregame reference prices are subject to change. Bears +3.5 covers a three-point defeat. At -105, the required break-even rate is 51.2%; Philadelphia’s -115 spread price requires 53.5%.
The Eagles’ -205 moneyline requires 67.2% outright wins to break even. That calculation describes the payout, not an independently measured chance of victory. Chicago’s +177 at leading offshore sportsbooks offers a larger return, but my recommendation does not depend on an upset.
Chicago’s Quarterback Decision Changes The Plan
The Bears injury update confirms Williams is out with a hamstring injury. Tyson Bagent cleared concussion protocol Sunday and carries no game designation. The team had not announced its starter in that update.
ESPN reports Case Keenum is expected to start, with Bagent available behind him. Keenum participated throughout the practice week.
Preparation matters here. A backup who has rehearsed the opening script can manage the planned offense; handling third-and-long after a missed block is a separate test.
Our Bears quarterback analysis examined Keenum and Bagent during preseason. Monday demands a more cautious assessment against regular-season personnel, not an assumption that exhibition production transfers unchanged.
I expect Ben Johnson to use shorter throws and backfield touches to limit difficult reads. Philadelphia can undermine that plan by tackling underneath completions before they become easy first downs.
Philadelphia’s Injuries Restrict Its Offensive Options
The Eagles injury report rules out Dallas Goedert, Marquise Brown and Fred Johnson. Jonathan Greenard remains questionable, making his potential return another item to check before kickoff.
Goedert’s absence reduces Jalen Hurts’ options between the numbers. Without Brown, Philadelphia has fewer receiving alternatives if Chicago directs extra coverage at DeVonta Smith. Johnson’s absence removes another protection option.
Smith and Saquon Barkley have no game designation after full participation Saturday. Barkley managed only four carries against Tennessee following a stinger, so expecting a normal workload requires more than reading his season totals.
The Eagles have won 24-22 against Washington and 24-20 at Tennessee. Those narrow results do not guarantee another close finish, but they offer little support for assuming Philadelphia will dominate this road assignment.
Philadelphia’s 17 conversions on 32 third downs show an ability to rescue possessions. Chicago needs to win those downs through pressure; merely forcing Hurts into third down has not been enough for opponents so far.
Hurts remains the stronger quarterback option. Chicago’s spread case needs its defense to disrupt timing, not pretend that advantage disappears.
The Running Game Can Keep Chicago Competitive
D’Andre Swift has 169 rushing yards and Kyle Monangai has 147 through two games. Vic Fangio described Chicago’s running scheme as built around under-center handoffs rather than quarterback-generated rushing plays.
That distinction preserves part of the Bears’ identity without Williams. Swift and Monangai can still work behind familiar blocking assignments, giving Keenum manageable situations instead of asking him to replace every element of the starter’s game.
There is a limit to that argument: Williams supplied 107 rushing yards himself. Removing his scrambling threat lets Philadelphia defend broken plays differently. Chicago cannot simply carry its entire early rushing average into Monday’s projection.
The Bears held Minnesota to nine points and 246 net yards, with three sacks. Persistent rain affected that game, so the defensive improvement needs confirmation under different conditions.
A few early run stops would let Chicago challenge Philadelphia’s protection on longer passing downs. Conversely, productive Barkley carries could force safeties forward and open space for Smith. That is the matchup most likely to overturn my spread preference.
Field position is the other danger. A backup quarterback’s interception near his own end zone could produce a touchdown without Philadelphia sustaining a drive, damaging both the underdog and under positions.
Eagles vs. Bears Best Bets And Prediction
NFL Best Bet: Bears +3.5 (-105). Accept -110 or better, but pass at +3. The extra half point protects the narrow defeat projected here.
Total Lean: Under 41.5 (-115). Reduced receiving depth and Chicago’s quarterback change favor fewer efficient scoring drives. Pass below 41 rather than accepting a smaller cushion.
Score Prediction: Eagles 20, Bears 17. Confirm Chicago’s starter and final inactives before betting. Keep exposure small; a side and total built around the same low-scoring expectation should not become two full-sized wagers.
